Introduction

The “internet has given audiences much more power than ever before.” I agree with the statement because you can access lots of stuff and make choices on the internet e.g you can make choices of what you want to watch and then you have Netflix where you can watch any movie at home or on the go.

Music Industry

The music industry has had a lot of changes due to the internet  for example the rise of “bedroom bands” , people being able to produce their own work so you could be the first one to hear it, then being able to reach large audiences and then finally there being more music being uploaded regularly. Then the advantages is that you can access music for free and that allow’s wider platforms to hear new music e.g Spotify, Youtube and soundcloud. Then the disadvantages is that Artists and producers could make less money and it could be hard to see whether the music has been successful or not. In my opinion audiences have more power because they can access lots of music content and it allows the audience to comment and enjoy listening to music as a entertainment. Finally you can learn about new ethnicities religions and cultures but on the other hand you can listen to stuff in any language you understand so you can feel comfortable.

  Film and Television

The consumers being able to access wider content of shows, technology being improved and The Film and Television industry has had a lot of changes due to the internet for example they can access the service from apps instead of Dvd’s. Then the advantages is that you can watch it anywhere at any time on different device, ‘binge watch’ do not have to wait for a new episode of your favourite show. Then the disadvantages is that you have to pay monthly subscription, you are limited for content, you can get hacked and then the service can go down because it requires internet. But finally if you watch movies on your phone it could be hard to see because the device is small so it might ruin the audiences experience and not enjoy the film as much as they could or want to enjoy. Then sometimes Netflix might not produce movies that you like  for example sequels and reboots and you cannot access all the new movies so if you want to see a new movie you will have to go to the cinema to see it.

Newspaper Industry

The newspaper has had a lot of changes due to the internet and  smart devices taking over the world for example the rise of technology, untrustworthy politicians and more there is more streaming sites where you can access the news on your devices. Then due to the internet the advantages is that you can access up to date news, contact other sources to get further updates and get profit from the views. Then the disadvantages is that there might be fake news or if technology goes down then you cannot get any information out and finally it might not be profitable because there is too much competition (adpocalypse)

I agree with the question because the reason why the internet makes the audience more powerful is because the internet gives you choices like surveys and u can communicate with others and send pictures but you can also make your own opinions or access what you want to see or not see.
